Mechanisms
Mechanisms add useful interactions to builds. Buy Mechanic levels with /perks; see /perks info mechanic for the track. You need permission to build at the mechanism and permission to interact where you use it. Put the tag on the second line of a sign; tags ignore case and spaces.
See switches and cooking pots, moving structures, decorating tools, and special pistons for instructions.
| Mechanic level | Examples |
|---|---|
| I | [X] hidden switch, [|] light switch, and [Cook] cooking pot. Glass and bookshelves also drop themselves when broken by hand. |
| II | [Lift Up], [Lift Down] and [Lift] elevator signs; [Bridge], [Gate] and [Door Up] / [Door Down] moving structures. |
| III | Copy signs with a feather, switch paintings, and build Stargates. |
| IV | [Crush] and [Bounce] piston signs. |
| V | [SuperSticky] and [SuperPush] piston signs. |
Try a cooking pot
Section titled “Try a cooking pot”Put a lit campfire one block below a sign and write [Cook] on line 2. Right-click the sign with coal to add eight fuel, then right-click it with raw food in your main hand. The cooked items go into your inventory; an empty-hand click reports remaining fuel. A heat source can also be two blocks below the sign.
First-level switches and cooking pots require Mechanic I to use. Elevators, bridges, gates and doors can be used by players without Mechanic II if they have interaction permission. See elevators and moving structures to build them.
If a mechanism does not work
Section titled “If a mechanism does not work”Check your Mechanic level with /perks, the tag on line 2, and your permission to build or interact at the location. For moving structures, check the specific guide for the required blocks and clear space.
