Levelled monsters
Naturally spawned hostile monsters can grow stronger as you explore away from world spawn.
Look at a levelled monster to see its level. Levels rise in distance bands, up to level 50. In overworlds, depth below Y 62 and the moon at night can add levels. Skylands has no depth bonus; the Nether has no depth or moon bonus and its distance bands rise faster. Monsters in the End are not levelled.
Higher levels can increase health, damage, speed, and armor. A player-earned kill can also award more experience and extra rolls from the monster’s loot table. Players together must deal more damage than all other sources combined, and a player must land the final blow with melee or a projectile.
Bosses, named or tamed mobs, babies, and some hostile types stay unlevelled. Spawner, raid, egg, and other artificial spawns do not become levelled. Beginner’s Luck temporarily reduces nearby levels.
