Upgrading with Storm Shards
Use Storm Shards at the spawn windmill during rain to add Storm tiers to supported equipment.
- Bring shards and a supported weapon or piece of armor to the emerald block inside the spawn windmill.
- During rain, hold the equipment in your main hand and right-click the block.
- Read the result before trying again. Each attempt spends shards; a failed attempt leaves the item at its previous tier.

Swords, axes, spears, maces, tridents, bows, crossbows and supported armor can be upgraded. The configured upgrade does not destroy the item on failure. Carry extra shards if you want to retry.
Weapons gain damage and armor reduces damage. Bonuses against players are smaller than against mobs, and armor reduction has a cap. Hold an item and use /shards info to check its own bonus. See Finding Storm Shards for sources.
